2010 8-14 May Balang Shan and Wolong

8th May to 14th May 2010
Participants: Marco and Mazar  Guide & Driver: Tang Jun

8 May arrival at Chengdu then we drove to Wolong directly via Dujiangyan city. We did worried about the traffic control but after we talked to the police then we success get into the area.

9-10 May we spent two full days at Balang Shan and saw almost all important birds and one Chinese Monal male running across the snow.

11 May we climb up to Wuyipeng very early and had some birding then due to do not arranged the permits to stay there, then we walked down to the hotel at Sawan

12 May we drove from Wolong to Wawu

13-14 May we spent two days at Wawu and include one day at summits area, we saw Temminck’s Tragopan in foggy but very close and long view.

On 14 May, Duke and driver Mr Chen Jingqiao brought another car from Chengdu and met Marco and Mazar, as Tang Jun will have to get back to Chengdu for another big group with 10 person.

15-23 May last birding at Wawu then drive back to Chengdu via the eastern road carry on to Jiuzhaigou, birding at Gong Gang Lin, Baxi Forest at Roige, Wetland and grassland of Roige and Hongyuan, arrived at Zegu Mountain at Maerkhang. Due to the police check point and closing of Maerkang city for foreigners and they has to return all same route back to Chengdu.
